I watched the first movie sometime ago and I actually very much enjoyed the movie. Yeah, the movie was a side-sorry, but was fun enough in my opinion. Much better than DragonBall Z movies. Maybe it's just that I haven't watched the show in such a long time, that maybe the expectation for what the movie should be is not there anymore, but seems like a lot of people think the first movie is whatever.

Anyway, enough babbling...Rank 'em (plz).

I have watched them all but I honestly don't remember well enough to make a rank. I remember, however, that the movie Z was the one I enjoyed the most. Pretty nice soundtrack too.

On a side note I also really did enjoy watching the OP's movies, as I enjoy seeing scenes/episodes made by someone other than the author and see side stories, imagining they happen in a different universe.

The last 3 films (Film Z) included Eiichiro Oda was involved in, so it makes sense.

And yeah about One-Piece Movies, the one thing I can say about having watched the first movie is that they were a lot less, I don't know how to say it, maybe the word is pretentious than most DragonBall Z movies. DragonBall Z movies tried way too hard to be epic, but you can hardly be that in a stand-alone 45 minutes movie and copied the series way too much. One-Piece movies don't seem to try that as much. Just an adventure they have whilst they are on their journey, which can also fit in a movie format. Didn't try to be too serious at all, like DragonBall Z movies where they really tried hard to make the movies dramatic. Here that was also kind-of dramatic but much more comedy too and in-spirt of the series (I think).

Yeah, I enjoyed movie 6 (Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island)... the animation was also rather different (I liked it) and there was a dark tone throughout the movie. One of my favorites.

Movie 6 was directed by the fellow who did Summer-Wars and the Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Also who did the first Digimon Movie. Some call him the next Hayao Miyazaki.

Pretty much an exaggeration if we're talking about quality. His early stuff was OK, though his more famous, newer titles have too much nonsensical and unexplained ideas, along with pretty dumb asspulls, to really compare him to Miyazaki, even if Miyazaki's 21st Century works have been a massive step down in quality from before.

On topic though, I've only seen Strong World and Film Z, so out of the two, I'd go with Film Z, since it's villain was far more fleshed out. Of other films I've yet to see but think deserve an honourable mention, Movie 6 does things a lot differently from the other movies, allowing it to stand out more, whilst Movie 7 gets a mention for being a remake of the 2nd best arc of the series.
Don't really care about viewing Film Gold tbh, considering it just seems like more of the same, not to mention seeing those Gold Cloth ripoffs made by the main villain's DF is pretty offputting as far as creativity goes.

Yeah, that comparison was quite eye-brow raising. I don't think he can be compared yet either, Hayo Miyazaki is one of the top film-makers in the history of cinema I'd argue probably.

Was pretty sure Episode of Alabasta was Movie 7, but yeah.
That's Movie 8 apparently. Even-though I heard it wasn't all that great of a retelling.
