Yeah him and his white bearded papa are the once-in-a-decade exceptions

One Piece seems to be big on this forum, and I currently own the first six volumes, so I thought I'd try getting back into it for more discussions. About how long would it take me to get up to recent chapters if I started now?

You must be done the manga then. I'd like a report on who is stronger between Silver Roger and Magenta Magellan.

I finished the manga in the first year and then forgot it all in the year after, sorry.

To be honest One-Piece >>> any iteration of DB-Super, though. Not that it takes much, but still the best Shōnen series out there in my opinion.

One Piece never excited me that much, honestly. HxH is considerably better imo.

One-Piece world-building is top-tier though from what I saw, heard and can remember.

Yeah but half the arcs are just repeats of old stuff like Fishman Island and Dressrosa

Yeah, valid criticism. But at-least they are good to begin with, so repeating isn't all that bad even if they are inferior to the original.

Well Fishman Island isn't really a repeat, but just a wrap up of an incomplete story left over from the Arlong Arc and Sabaody. I'm okay with Fishman Island, apart from how dragged out Hody vs Luffy was and how for now Van Der Decken and the Noah seem totally pointless, although I'm guessing that the Noah will become relevant eventually, a bit like Laboon (hell, maybe Laboon will tow the Noah).

Dressrosa is more of a repeat and while it had occasional bits of what makes One Piece great, the tournament was dragged out and well, really, I watched the anime, so the whole freaking thing was painfully dragged out, although not as bad as most of Punk Hazard aka running on the spot for longer than Ichigo did in the whole of Bleach.

WCI seems like it might've been quite good and I highly doubt the Reverie and Wano will be bad - in fact I fully expect them to be on par with the best pre-skip arcs. Vivi, Zoro and the whole crew are going to shine, along with Kidd and the other supernovas probably.

Yeah, but I still don't find it as good as HxH. It used to entertain me before (I wouldn't get thrilled or killing of will to see the next ep, but it still worked as a source of entertainement)... now not even that I can say it does, I haven't dropped it yet because I have been following it since 2013. The recent episodes bored the hell outta me.
