I watched two episodes. Her mother didn't wake her up and she's late to school. She sees a cat being attacked by some boys and gets them to stop by shouting and maybe running at them. She has to stand outside the classroom. There's a guy in a tophat who fights people. At some point she sticks her tongue out at someone, and maybe pulls the skin under her left eye down (ugh, I just tried this and why would you do that to yourself. wtf).

lol sailor moon was the 2nd most popular 90s anime in north america

The most popular ones were Pokemon and DBZ. Or are you not counting Pokemon since it's originally a videogame? Sailor Moon was fairly popular, but it was never anywhere near as big as DBZ.

Yuu-Gi-Oh came out just a few years later, and it's loads more popular than Sailor Moon ever was. Actually, Digimon came out in the 90s, and I'm pretty sure it was bigger than Sailor Moon ever was. The first Digimon movie came out in US theaters in 2000, one year after the first Pokemon movie in 1999.

The first Yuu-Gi-Oh movie came out in US theaters in 2004. DBZ Fusion Reborn and Return of Coola were shown as a double feature in select US theaters in 2006, and all of the movies since BoG have come out in US theaters, too. There's never been a Sailor Moon movie shown in US theaters.

You weren't even aware of the 90s much. It came out in 1995, which must be around when you were born.

Yugioh came out in North America in the 2000s.

That goes for you, too, since you're 32.

I don't have to have been born earlier to know Sailor Moon was never hugely popular in the US like DBZ and Pokemon were. Although it first came to the US in 1995, it didn't reach anywhere close to mainstream popularity before it aired on Toonami in 1998. Back in 1995, Sailor Moon was niche; it was literally cancelled at first due to low ratings.

Yugioh came out in North America in the 2000s.

It came out in 2001, which wasn't that long after Sailor Moon took off in the US in 1998. That's why I said a "few years later".

Yeh it does go for me too. I can't really gauge how popular stuff was in the 90s (in the UK in my case), outside of what was popular in my second primary school (I do wonder if what I remember being popular with that age group would be reflected in online information).

The movie point is a good one. Though that was a good few years later, by which time maybe DBZ had further grown in popularity compared to in the 90s.
