Is Gohan overwhelming Kuririn not evidence? Around 1,500 doesn’t have to mean exactly it, though I’m not sure how far they can go.
Not exactly. It's evidence that Gohan was stronger but there's not enough context to say by how much. We only see the tail end of the training session, and both of them were clearly focusing very hard. Gohan clearly didn't one shot Krillin as he complimented his techniques and abilities. It seems they had an extended fight in which Gohan came out on top. It could easily look like this:

Krillin: 1,450-1,500
Gohan: 1,550-1,600

When is it said they were equals? They’re just lumped together as “over 10,000”. Gohan clearly does a lot better than Kuririn vs Recoome too. Granted Recoome was toying, but Kuririn was too weak for even that.
Not equals, but the quote we are referring to makes it damn clear they were very close to one another. They were still in the exact same tier by the time of the Ginyu fight. The real disparity was only noticeable by the time they faced 1st Form Freeza.

I watched the image training, it is so brief it hardly counts as a "fight". But Gohan was running away from Kuririn's attacks the whole time and then Gohan unleashed a Masenko that apparently defeated Kuririn. Kuririn was dominating the whole fight until that though so....I don't know.

As for the Recoome fight. Recoome was pissed that Kuririn knocked his teeth out, while with Gohan he just seemed to want to torture him.
