tell you who is saying what when you can’t tell or it’s hard to tell? Translations mess-up in this thing in my opinion. In the original there are verbal-ticks or ways of talking that can not be replicated in another language so they leave it as it is, but then it gets confusing when you see a panel & it’s hard to tell who is saying what. I think in those case they could just write who is saying what or maybe colour the dialogue. It might take you out of the moment, but so what. At-least you can tell.

Sometimes the dialogue bubble just doesn’t have the little arrow bit that tells you who’s talking in situations where it really should. I can’t think of an exact example right now but you probably get what I mean. Like, the characters are drawn in the panel, so you can have the dialogue bubbles point to each character, but they just don’t.

Anyway, I think it’s a viable option for fan translations. I get why official translations don’t do it. Some manga and manhwa will also have chibi illustrations next to a dialogue bubble to show who’s talking, so that’s an option if the scanlator feels assed to go that far.

Sometimes they also draw their eyes & maybe hair in the panel (like an emoji)…except you know it’s still hard to tell if the characters look the same & don’t have distinct accessories like glasses. Manga-ka with same face syndrome have problems with this.

& why would stupid translations get rid of arrows? It’s there to make things easier to tell.

Also some-times there are no characters in a panel & you just see the dialogue-bubble. Like when characters are screaming or arguing & then it shows the scenery you know what I mean.

Yes.

Also occasionally I can't tell which order characters are talking in. Please come up with a solution. Thanks - you have 3 minutes to hand it in.

No. I feel like that would be an insult to the reader’s intelligence.

You clean documents with a rag? Ever heard of tipex? Word processors? Or are you just cleaning the screen of your PC? That's a screenrag.
