The second Gohan went all-out (in his damaged state mind you) Cell got completely overwhelmed.

Prove me wrong.

Gohan got help from a full-power blast by Vegeta, Cell was not at his fullest either.

Of course Gohan is far stronger. By Goku’s own admission Gohan is the highest. He’s stronger than even SSJ2 Goku and Majin Vegeta when fighting at fullest.

Vegeta was in base. Unless cell was holding back (not stated or implied) then gohan's not holding back power was more than enough.

There's also the fact that Gohan lost half of his Ki and still managed to hold off Super Perfect Cell.

I'd like to agree and probably might do but to be fair Cell was distracted by Vegeta's blast and then realised too late.

I hear people say that Vegeta attacking Cell was key to Gohan's victory, but not for the right reasons. Gohan was reluctant to use his full power throughout the entire struggle, but the opening from Vegeta's attack just gave him a ''now or never'' moment with Goku also pushing him. The fight would have been over from the beginning if he had a different mindset.

Thanks man. I doubt I'll ever be a prominent user here again, but I'll definitely post on topics that interests me once in a while.

Oh the incredulity isn't because that's what's stated in the manga. It's all the arguments I had with people that it wasn't the case. I've lost count of the times I've heard cell rivals gohan, and gohan tapped into his full power again.

To be fair, both Piccolo and Cell himself made pretty clear Cell wasn’t putting any effort. Gohan held Cell as much as Kaioshin held his own against Boo.

Gohan didn't eliminate Cell with half his chi though. Once Gohan shot the KMHMH, Piccolo made note his chi was lower than Cell's, and Goku stated Gohan wasn't putting out all of his power yet, so the instance he overwhelmed Cell after Vegeta's distraction ought to have featured more power than "half chi". Doubt Cell would state "things aren't going to go out as well" if he only amounted to less than half Gohan as well lol. I think he is in a competitive range enough to feel confidence, although Gohan is still ultimately stronger due to his power being the benchmark at the Boo arc, plus Goku being confident that in a KMHMH clash Gohan would prevail.

Not to get off-topic, but since this guy is one of my fav posters, I found a way to add him into a debate:

If you firmly believe Fat Boo is the same as Mr. Boo, there is a contradiction. The very strength checker you're adhering to even has them listed as different forms. You have to pick ahill.

That was intentional ahill1

As for the topic itself, I think Gohan is definitely superior, but I don't think it'd look anywhere as laughable as it did prior to Cell's power-up.

Gohan didn't need to use his full strength against full power Cell, which is probably Cell's only frame of reference after coming back from the brink of death. At the end of the day they both underestimated each other.

Cell may have had the advantage against Gohan during the beginning portion of the beam struggle, but once Gohan let out his full unadulterated power, there was nothing his opponent could have done.

Thanks a lot for the compliment, EV. It means a lot coming from you, really... one of the most spectacular members in DB history. I think I'm not worth, really. I can't empahasize well enough, but it means a lot to be in the same community as you :)

Are you SpiralSwords there? Tbh, I coincidentally registered there recently under the username of Technology haha. I tried posting a battle power list in my first poster (I like to do it as one of my first topics when I'm registering in a different community... kinda like a "newbie card/welcome" haha), but couldn't post it due to some format problem. I'm reading the topic rn. And wow, that was a lot of disccusion. I'll join it :D
