Doesn't Goku buying time mean he doesn't think he can beat Freeza in time?

Goku vs. Tao literally had Tao unable to land a blow outside of the free ones Goku let him land just after breaking his sword. Goku actually coughs blood and looks like he's resisting pain when he says Freeza's warm up hits were a disappointment, I'm sure Goku was confident he could win but I don't buy him having a huge advantage here.

Tao also had a quick back and forth with Goku when he first got serious. Both fights had one, and both had Goku easily bouncing back and beating Tao/Freeza up.

Looking at how much Freeza hit him, Goku looks rather alright. And I'm pretty sure Vegeta could make Recoome spit blood.

Stop using head canon

So let's take everyone's word on it then. Goku thinks Freeza's warm up wasn't shit.

A tiny bit of damage. Goku couldn't even fully block Freeza's Kiai.

Even 70% Freeza could affect Goku with a Kiai.

If we're giving Goku a point for hurting Freeza with his headbutt, then Freeza gets a point for hurting Goku with his Kiai

He's not hurt. That was just a little wind. Freeza got a busted nose, a snapped arm and was thrown away.

Cap. Goku was knocked down for a moment, and he was an even bloodier mess than he was before

If they actually were close, it would've been like SPC vs Gohan where Gohan lost half his power. Freeza had to catch Goku off guard, and did as much damage as Goku's normal punches.

And you can't just handwave Freeza stalemating Goku's Kamehameha with his Nova Strike. If Goku were stronger, then his Kamehameha would have just blown Freeza away

Is that why Kaio-Ken x3 Goku blew Vegeta's Garlic Gun away? No, wait... That's not how beam struggles work.

That doesn't mean he's buying time LOL

If anything, that would just motivate him to finish off Freeza asap

And yet he was still coughing up blood afterwards LOL

Freeza wasn't serious either way.

Even 70% Freeza could affect Goku with a Kiai.

70% Freeza can catch Goku off guard with a Kiai.
100% Freeza can hurt him with one even when he's on guard.

He's not hurt. That was just a little wind. Freeza got a busted nose, a snapped arm and was thrown away.

He is hurt, hence the fact he's groaning in pain LOL

If they actually were close, it would've been like SPC vs Gohan where Gohan lost half his power.

Goku's Kamehameha couldn't push Freeza's Nova Strike back.
Freeza's Nova Strike couldn't push Goku's Kamehameha back.
Ergo, they were at a stalemate, meaning they were close. Dead even, actually.

Whereas Cell was gradually overpowering Gohan and would have killed him if Vegeta didn't step in; they weren't very close.

Freeza had to catch Goku off guard, and did as much damage as Goku's normal punches.

Goku was literally knocked out for a moment LOL

Freeza wasn't knocked out at any point in the fight until the end

Is that why Kaio-Ken x3 Goku blew Vegeta's Garlic Gun away? No, wait... That's not how beam struggles work.

LOL Goku's 3x Kaioken Kamehameha was equal to Vegeta's Gallick Ho. Only the 4x Kaioken Kamehameha blew it away. I see you don't read the manga

He did try. He yelled, "Die, Freeza!!" while shooting his Kamehameha. He didn't expect Freeza to cheat and fly around his KHH.

If he's just buying time for Gohan to escape like you claimed, then that means he wasn't trying to kill Freeza.

He shot that shit after Freeza charged at him with Nova Strike, which is Freeza's strongest attack as it went toe to toe with Goku's FP KHH. And the fact that Goku is delegating time to worrying for Gohan and Bulma's escape in the heat of a life or death battle speaks for itself.

The KHH vs Nova Strike exvhange was AFTER Goku thought to himself that Gohan's waiting too long. Do you not know the sequence of events?

You're arguing that Goku only stopped buying fight (drawing the fight out) until Gohan left lol

Goku was clearly alarmed when Freeza charged at him, then warped himself above him and fought completely in earnest after "warming up." It was no time to hold back at that point, plus Goku continued to take Freeza seriuosly as a threat until his stamina waned completely from the strain of his 100% when they'd started fighting on the ground for a while. The fact that Goku's anxiety over Gohan's slow escape is confirmed through internal monologuing after he cockily denies it to Freeza shows what his real intention was.

If you're so dense that Goku literally monologuing begging for Gohan to escape the planet already isn't a sign he was full of shit when he said in the previous page that he had no reason to stall (which he did since he wasn't seriously fighting)...

I daresay this debate is over. Try spending your weekend more productively

He has no reason to stall if he's worried about Gohan, because stalling would be endangering Gohan's life LOL
