Probably. Goku told Teen Gohan to get angry and bring out all of his power like he did against Cell. There's also what Vegeta said in Bobbidi's ship.

So at the very least, we know Gohan becoming a Super Saiyan 2 and Gohan becoming a rage-filled Super Saiyan 2 are entirely different.

I think becoming Super Saiyan 2 was a byproduct of his rage, but I also believe his rage was at its max. That was what allowed Gohan to bring out all the power he was capable of at that point.

I think it can go both ways. There's no need for a rage boost considering solely the Cell Games, although the Boo saga kind of implies there might have been one. It's kind up to you to decide, imo.

Gohan having a rage boost would give you more room to do the gaps as well. Firstly, we have Vegeta thinking of Gohan SSJ2 as pathetic and saying that he was far, far better at the Cell Games

Vegeta: “…Hmph…That bastard, he was far, far better when he killed Cell. It’s because he slacked off in his training during peacetime…”

And yet, Gohan SSJ stays evenly with someone labeled as about steong as Cell. We know that neither FP Perfect Cell nor Super Perfect Cell can work due to Gohan being seemingly a SSJ1, but it's likely Goku is at least comparing Dabura to the Cell he fought, right? Then, if we assume Boo saga Gohan's SSJ2 has the same multiplier as CG Gohan's SSJ2, wouldn't that make CG SSJ Gohan >>> Boo saga SSJ Gohan and by extension >>> Perfect Cell (vs Goku)? That doesn't seem right, considering there didn't seem to be that much of a difference between CG Gohan and the Perfect Cell who fought Goku, with this latter seemingly just increasing his speed.

The rage boost would kind of solve this situation, in which the huge gap Cell Games Gohan had over his Boo saga self would come more from their SSJ2. That's just a possibility though.

I tend to roll with a rage boost based on a mixture of Vegeta's statement and powerscaling. It's hard to align Piccolo's implication of Goku and Vegeta only being minimally above this Gohan when pre-Majin Vegeta implied he was superior to a rusty Gohan, despite expecting Gohan's power to be nowhere near as inferior to his Cell Games self as he showed, yet still have this Vegeta far below Galu without a rage boost to make the chain look consistent.

No rage boost.
All the build up at Cell Games introduced SSJ2 as Gohan's rage. At Buu Saga, it
was believed that Gohan would get back the power he'd lost by slacking off if he
got mad.
SSJ2 Buu Saga Ragehan=SSJ2 Cell Games Gohan

Wait, weren't his rage boosts only usable in bursts? Like, he goes into a frenzy, beats up everyone on his way and calms down. CG Gohan was in control of his emotions.

Goku said the hidden power within Gohan began to "awaken" in the rosat.

I believe Super Saiyan 2 Gohan was the first example of his rage remaining intact without going away right after.

His rage boost also lasted a good while against Vegeta back in the Saiyans saga, right?

The problem I have with it is that Gohan isn't (certainly isn't showing it) angry in the slightest by the time he's going to battle SPC. He transforms into SS2 without any trouble, he even ends up even smirking at Cell, raring to go again. Gohan is whimpering by the time the Kamehameha duel rolls around, saying he only has half his ki while Goku is sitting there saying "No, you have all your power! Release it!".

The Boo arc furthers the confusion by having Gohan use SS2 at the 25th Budokai, yet never again afterwards. Then we have Vegeta saying his SS2 is garbage at that point, but he does say who knows what would happen if Gohan snapped and went into a fit of rage.

Gohan had a little leftover anger from before when he went SSJ2 again against Cell and against Kibito.

Ah, I forgot about that one. He went from having no energy to fighting Vegeta for a good while. That's a good example.

Of course! A normal SSjin2 is 2x of base but Gohan's SSjin2 from CG was even greater than that and Goku/Vegeta supports that too.
