IDK, skip to volume 3 if you like or read it starting from volume 1. The prologue is very self-contained, but reading it after the Golden Age would make it shit in comparison.

Quite true, though I don't think that's nearly as important as not getting spoiled, but meh.

Vol 3 = Ch9 basically btw going by mangahere.

Why would it spoil? I dont get it.

The first arc is good. He would like it a lot. That is the same guy who got humiliated by fishman island arc.

Did you finish that arc, Alex?

<div class='spoiler_toggle'>Q, don't open</div><div class="spoiler" style="display:none;">It spoils that Griffith turns on Guts, which is presented as a shocking turn in the GA arc. Reading the first arc beforehand diminishes the impact severely. Not worth it imo.</div>

Maybe you guys should read the prologue sometime after Volume 23. That's where the Manga goes really downhill anyway.

I went to the same route. But if you think he should start start GA arc, then its alright since im currently there too. </div>

<div class='spoiler_toggle'>Spoiler: click to toggle</div><div class="spoiler" style="display:none;">Well, I suppose I can see that perspective, but I think the shock of the twist makes a better experience. I read it normally like you, personally, and was simultaneously amazed and disappointed by the climax of GA, when I should've been amazed and shocked. I didn't realize you weren't done with GA yet. Trust me, when you get to the climax you'll know what I mean.</div>

I was gonna tell him to read the first 8 chaps (prologue) right after the Golden Age arc since that's where it'd fit chronologically, but I guess it doesn't matter much. Either way, I would highly advise not reading it now. Getting the best experience out of the best arc makes it worthwhile to get a worse experience out of the lackluster (in comparison) introduction, in my opinion.

Yeah I think it would be smart to start from Chapter 9. Finish up the Golden Age arc then read the first 9 chapters

It was still relatively weak compared to the shit before it.

By the time they reach the beach and Guts starts spamming his armor, that's when it really goes downhill.
