It didn't seem like he needed to, considering he had a pretty calm expression throughout the fight. It was more to do with him teaching Gohan about what to expect in the Battle Royale than actually needing to resort to it.

Piccolo oneshots. He ought to be at least stronger than Base Goku given his performance against Frost, whilst Base Goku's shown through feats to not be an ant compared to his God forms.

Either way, once we've established limits in Dragonball, to go far beyond that is an atrocity. Ultimate Gohan is an absolute hard limit. Which is why people always complain about his power being dismissed.

Gohan has the most potential out of them all, Elder Kaioshin brings his power wayyyyyyyy past that level. Simply put, no one should be touching that level no matter what, not with training, not even with Elder Kaioshin's boost. This is how the story was written. Super Saiyan God is a good way to get around that, but that's for Goku and Vegeta, the others are stuck miserably behind Gohan, by a country mile.
