I don't believe it. People can just write any sheeeeeeeet on the internet with-out a source & it immediately becomes a fact ("Eiichiro Oda said..."), but is there a source for this?

I looked it up verbatim & couldn't find anything. Even google'd the series' name & Akira Toriyama in japanese & couldn't find anything. Seems like the gai just made-up a quote & added in a "laughs" to make it seem genuine.

I had a google for '"ブラッククローバー" "鳥山 明"' (plus with '"主人公"') and for 'Akira Toriyama interview "black clover"' from 1st Jan 2016 to 10th July 2018 and couldn't find it. Just fiound some other manga about a loan shark to read from some Japanese site's recommendations https://myanimelist.net/manga/8593/Yamikin_Ushijima-kun

Maybe ask the guy on twitter. Like "hey gai I'm dying and this is my Make a Wish wish, do you-know where the source for this is maybe? If you want and you can, plz"? (don't die plz)

Didn't realise he wrote a couple of non-shounen-looking ones too like the Eri one and Look Back) style, but I'd read it if it was a real manga. Or is it by one of his assistants? I saw a thing elsewhere about his assistants all being successful mangaka.

My friend (not an anime fan) said Chainsaw Man looks cool. Iirc told him it's kinda cool and different, but the main character's whole motivation is boobs.

People used to try and make Black Clover the Bleach to My Hero Academia which is the Naruto of the 2010s. Its poor volume sales ended up making it fall into obscurity more, however.
