So, what do you expect the next Pokémon games to be? There seem to be 3 theories on where it could go thus far:

Entirely new Region - A teaser of a new Pokémon shown at Japanese screenings at the end of Movie 18 were revealed, implying we may see Gen 7 already.

3D Gen 1 - Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the original Pokémon games, so it may seem appropriate to make another Gen 1 remake. This could provide more potential for good Kanto Mega Evolutions (fingers crossed for Mega Tauros) and given ORAS' desire to have Mega evolutions for the Elite 4's strongest Pokémon, we could see Mega Lapras, Machamp and Dragonite. It's also worth noting that these are now the only Generation of Pokémon that's no longer playable on Nintendo's most current format due to a lack of a GBA cartridge for FRLG on the 3DS, so it would be worthwhile. I guess cries from genwunners may make this a possibility.

Pokémon Z - Recent promotional material showed a gigantic Pokémon which some speculate to be Mega Zygarde. Considering Zygarde's stat total is lower than Xerneas/Yveltal in the same way Base Kyurem's is to Reshiram/Zekrom, it seems like a possibility. <del>Poké Poké, catch the Poké, Pokémon Z</del>

So, which do you think has the highest likelihood so far?

Personally, I would prefer option B.

The idea of seeing the gen 1 Pokemon come back is really exciting for me. I always considered them to be the best Pokemon. Even with further evolution, I would still have time with the old school critters.

And yes, I'm a Taurus fan too ;)

Let's remember that FF7 has lots of hype because of the remake. That kind of success could really bring around other remakes, including Red/Blue.

Option B. I want Charizard again.

Option A sounds fine but I don't want Option C.

I'd actually prefer "X2/Y2. Gen 6 is far too new to end now, I think.

A remake of Red/Blue would be kickass tho.

A remake of Red/Blue would be beautiful if they updated the graphics (first and foremost) and put actual effort into bringing that gen into this era.

The next generation is going to be a rinse and repeat of the last.

I'm tired of Pokemon repeating the formula so much.

Option B does sound like a good idea. Next year will be the 20th anniversary of this insanely successful gaming franchise. But Why not do both new region and 3D Gen 1? I remember seeing online something about regions of Pokémon and a Zodiac Sign calendar which made me think 12 regions of pokemon one for each sign (although I'm not saying that'll happen, it just seemed like an idea).

But why not do both. GameFreak does this every time. Make a new generation than release either a sequel or remake of another past Generation. Were coming on a 20 year anniversary so it seems like an opportune time to do so don't you think?

Gen 1- 1996 (Red, Blue, Yellow, & Green)
Gen 2- 1999 (Gold, Silver, & Crystal)
Gen 3 - 2002 (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald THAN FireRed & LeafGreen)
Gen 4 - 2006 (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum THAN HeartGold & SoulSilver)
Gen 5 - 2010 (Black & White than Black & White 2)
Gen 6 - 2012 (X & Y THAN Alpha Ruby & Omega Sapphire)

They do this literally ALL the time.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't really care that much for Gen 4 remakes. The original games may not be manufactured anymore, but they're still compatible with the 3DS, so it'd be pointless to bring them out on anything but the Switch. Beyond putting in the new game mechanics, there's not much that could be done for them compared to ORAS either, especially when it's hard to see Dialga and Palkia's designs being improved if assuming they're getting the treatment of the recent trend of giving the mascots a new form. Only thing that would make the game better overall beyond the standard would be removing or limiting HM necessity, since the reliance on HMs in Sinnoh was annoying with the necessity for such useless moves as Defog.

Personally I am sick of all of the remakes. Hopefully the games are done on 3ds.
