a) Showcasing that the Potara/Kaioshin level beings aren't relevent anymore.
For many years, people believed that Vegetto could never be surpassed and that he would always be stronger than Goku or Vegeta by default. We've finally got evidence that shows how much of an insect he really was; barely even comparing to a version of Beerus who used less than 10% of his full power. It's a good thing that Vegetto has been dethroned and that the Potara itself isn't relevant anymore. It allows Super to explore things of other importance.
b) Showcasing that Gotenks & Ultimate Gohan weren't as strong as fans speculated.
During the opening of Super it was quite clear that Goku became the strongest, at least according to statements from Beerus & Vegeta. The common norm believed something that was actually incorrect for a decade or so. What a kick in the ass! Additionally, the characters of Gotenks & Gohan have been appropriately displayed and not taken out of character. By having Gotenks being considered irrational and not usable on the battlefield, or Gohan not undergoing his training and losing his Ultimate Gohan in between the duration between the fight with Beerus & 1rst Form Frieza. Fans can love certain characters but to expect too much out of them is to take them out of character. Certain characters like Piccolo are being reused, but only because it's in-character for them to train and fight.
c) The introduction of alternate Universes.
Probably the best thing that Super has done, by expanding on the amount of Universes within Dragonball. This allows further Dragonball material to be introduced. Additionally, it also makes it possible for characters in other Universes to be stronger than Beerus & Whiss, which allows Goku to progress even further than where he already is. Additionally, it can open up the possibility for new villains who may be even stronger than all the guys we've seen up until this point! Perhaps a threat that's large enough in scale to threaten all the Universes combined!
d) Vegeta
This has to be my favorite part. This could actually be swapped with point a). Vegeta has become relevant against and is likely the strongest character that the Z-Warriors currently have. He's done things that even Goku was incapable of doing. These things include achieving SSJG power on his own, seeing Golden Frieza's weakness before Goku does and challenging to fight both Goku & Final Form Frieza at the same time! His order at the Prince of all Saiyans has been restored and he's exactly where he deserves to be. All that talk is finally paying off!
