Cyborg Freeza is implied to not be much stronger than his Organic self, requiring Cold’s help to take Goku down for good. Yet Coola matches Goku and suspects he might have been good enough to kill Freeza. Transformed Coola is several times above that. Coola stomps.

It's been a while I've watched that, but iirc Cooler states he sees how Goku was able to defeat Freeza when he was using Kaioken only. So if we take Cooler at face value (like, assume he knows Freeza's 100%), then there should be quite a gap between Cooler and Freeza... Gap that can't be covered by the Mecha's enchancement.

But then he sees SSJ and said that's what did Freeza in.

He does? It seems he is all over the place then.

I’m not sure what Coola’s exact words are, but I like to think Base Goku was just close to Freeza and he thought that perhaps he could kill Freeza, while SSJ Goku was like for sure strong enough.

Cooler says that furiza was stronger than him before he created his 4th transformation. So a form weaker than furiza was having trouble with Base Goku. His transformed form wastes kaio-ken (multiplier unknown) goku. He's totally wasted by SSJ goku so that can't really be taken into account.

But unless you feel furiza gets powerful enough after coming back to make up for that type of gap, it's highly likely that Cooler is quite stronger.

He basically says it twice, once that he could see how furiza had trouble with goku before either Cooler transforms or goku used kaio-ken, and then he says that he understands how his brother was killed by goku after SSJ.

So do you think normal Cooler is not that much behind Freeza?

Coola wins, though I wouldn't say it's an absolute stomp. He later says that Super Saiyan Goku must have been what defeated Freeza despite having already mentioned seeing how Freeza lost to Goku twice prior and also mentions Freeza as having underestimated him, so it's most likely he thought Goku's base or Kaioken self killed Freeza before he could power up further until Super Saiyan cemented that Freeza's full power was not enough to beat Goku.

I'd still place 5th form Coola significantly above Mecha Freeza, probably in between his and SSJ Trunks' levels. Movie 6 confirms Goku's training on Yardrat did happen in the same timeline (or near enough), so it's most likely Movie 5 took place during the 3 years training with the only difference being Goku didn't master going Super Saiyan at will.

Significantly stronger, yes, but not quite in absolute stomping range. Freeza's greater variety in techniques would allow him to last some time against him, even if at a disadvantage.
