That's usually around where I would place him power level wise. Enough for Gohan to hold on, but Vegeta is still in control of the fight.

Maybe because Goku could still perform a Kaioken x5, while the 10-fold Kaioken was just too much out of his reach?

He couldn't even perform x4 for more than a moment, so even x5 is every bit as out of his reach as x10 at this point.

It's still way more believable than a Kaioken x10, which was just within Goku's capabilities post his training on the Spaceship. Maybe he couldn't perform it, but was still comparing it to a level he could "almost reach" if a bit stronger, rather than a freaking Kkx10 which would be just possible when his powers were already in the 90,000 and just in short bursts at that. Not saying Oozaru Vegeta is that strong though, but why would Goku mention a Kkx5 if it was pretty much out of his reach?

Because it was the best benchmark to compare Vegeta's power to. No matter how you look at it, Kaioken x5 was out of his reach. In terms of performance, he could barely use x4 and in context, even x2 was but momentarily with his fatigue. Had Vegeta been far stronger than x5, he'd probably have at least alluded to something higher, considering either way, it was a mere hypothetical at this point.
