Vegeta SSJ vs Trunks SSJ androids saga [gap]

If Vegeta was a 100, what would be Trunks? Both in the androids saga.

Honestly, there are good points either for Vegeta being a good deal stronger than Trunks or for them being at the same level:

Vegeta >> Trunks

1) Vegeta considers Trunks' blast at #18 and #17 a waste of energy, implying they cannot be defeated by an attack of that level. It's worthy note that even Piccolo was surprised at Vegeta considering it:

Chapter: 350 (DBZ 156), P14.1
Context: after Trunks blasts the androids and it doesn’t faze them
Vegeta: “Looks like that level [of attack] is just a waste of energy.”

2) Trunks is in complete awe of Vegeta fighting the androids, saying he didn't know papa was that strong:

Yeah, Vegeta wasn't really on par with #18, but Trunks' statement of being dumbfounded at Vegeta's power still stands.

3) Vegeta considers everyone [including Trunks] worthless against #18, saying her level of power isn't something Trunks can be helpful.

Vegeta >= Trunks

1) Vegeta couldn't get off of Trunks' sight when both were heading at Dr. Gero's laboratory and had to call his son annoying for it. This implies Vegeta's speed isn't enough to let Trunks eating dust.

2) Tenshinhan stated Goku shouldn't be much different from Trunks or Vegeta, implying Vegeta isn't much different from Trunks either.

Kami also groups the three Saiyans together [in a more general sense, however] but states Vegeta's abilities are even greater than Trunks'.

I think Trunks could keep up with Vegeta in a very Cell V Goku kind of way, but I'd accept a slightly larger gap too. So Trunks being 85-92% of Vegeta is acceptable for me.

What about the points of Vegeta having a good advantage over Trunks?

1) Was Trunks going all-out with his attack? It's good to assume he was since he was trying to prevent the release of his most feared nightmare. That leaves us with a full power attack from Trunks being considered useless by Vegeta. But how did Vegeta know the attack would be useless? He can't sense the androids and he just witnessed two previous androids getting the shit kicked out of them.

2) Trunks wasn't around to see Vegeta fight #19, so it goes back to "fighting ki vs. standing ki", I think. Plus, the last time he saw Vegeta, dude wasn't even on his Base level let alone a Super Saiyan.

3) This one's not so bad. Trunks really is worthless against #18, and we saw this in motion. Unlike the battle with Freeza, Vegeta isn't fighting as a team here. He's going solo, and anyone else is just getting in his way. Anyone else stepping up to the plate is going to get throttled by #18 without his help, and he's not going to help.

Well, it was an attack to destroy #16's pod, so maybe it doesn't need to be that strong. But Trunks was also surprised Vegeta considered his attack pointless, saying "Pointless...?!". Why would him be surprise at it being pointless if it were below his level, when he know androids > him?

2) Trunks wasn't around to see Vegeta fight #19, so it goes back to "fighting ki vs. standing ki", I think. Plus, the last time he saw Vegeta, dude wasn't even on his Base level let alone a Super Saiyan.

I don't think it was only a "father is stronger than I thought" comment, but also a "father is that strong", considering he showed surprise at his papa holding his own against those androids , something he stated earlier he wasn't able to do.

-Trunkses blast was probably not full power, thinking he could destroy Androids before their activation.
-Vegeta was referring to humans/Piccolo only. He had been impressed by Trunkses power earlier.

I like the 86-88% range personally. As KP said, he kind of feels like a Goku vs Cell gap, but also, could be slightly behind even that. If Goku is barely holding onto a rivaling range, Trunks is holding on by a cunt's hair.

The only reason people put him much higher than that is because the other power levels get jammed up with Piccoolo > 20 > 19 shit.

 

[Evil Vegeta]

I think Tien's statement only needs to imply that having Goku back wouldn't change much in the way of giving them a chance to win. Having Vegeta at a level comfortably above Tien can be done while still taking it into consideration. Watching a Super Saiyan Goku that wasn't at his best was mind-blowing to him, so I believe simply watching them get dismantled wouldn't fill him with confidence that a healed Goku would be any different.

Trunks doesn't think much of Vegeta initially. He even quickly dismisses the fact that Vegeta is the strongest of them (since Piccolo said he appeared to be above Goku) to not only say he can transform, but to also hype up the Androids even more. With the way he reacted towards watching Vegeta fight #18, I have a hard time seeing Trunks being <= and talking like that. It's worded as if Vegeta was doing something Trunks could only dream of doing.

With that, I think there's definitely a nice advantage there.

Well Tien said that the two and Goku aren't far apart. I see no reason for anything more a 10% gap at best between them. I go with

Vegeta: 450
Goku: 425
Trunks: 400

seems fair to me, no?

Vegeta beats the crap out of him but can't quite one-shot. 18 really isn't that far above Vegeta's full power, so her two-shotting him takes precedence over statements.

Even so, just one hit did enough damage to knock him out of Super Saiyan while she had a whole fight with Vegeta, so Vegeta's pretty damn far above him.
