I've been reading and watching this. Up to about chapter 30 and episode 2. I'm less keen on the anime since it's essentially the manga with minute changes such as showing Thors fighting with Thorkell and faking his death, and also showing his demise eariler than in the manga. It looks fantastic though so I'm sure it's a fine adaptation.

I'm not at all familiar with the history surrounding the Vikings beyond what everyone already knows: sailing, raiding, pillaging, Nordic etc, so this is interesting to me. Didn't even know the Danes occupied a portion of England for a time.

It's good. Recommend it.

Vinland Saga is one of the few more modern series that (mostly) lives up to its hype. There's a fair bit of a drop in quality with its current arc, but it's still otherwise solid as a whole.

For the topic of historical accuracy, it's mainly accurate concerning its depiction of the lifestyle and culture, but fairly inaccurate when it comes to some historical events such as the manner in which King Sweyn died.

As for discussing the anime, I'd say it does a better job at the prologue arc than the manga due to it choosing to tell the events in chronological order as well as the art being a lot more refined when comparing it to the earlier chapters.

Vinland Saga is incredible. It’s not as good as Berserk or Vagabond, but it’s more consistent in quality. As CC said, it would be better if it was more historically accurate as well. I also agree that the Anime is better at the prologue than the Manga, but I believe that it adds too much filler in that timespan.

Sinceramente, I watched a few eps of season 2 but found it cringey and too unrealistic (Inb4 "it's fiction"). Like when Thorfinn is getting cut up and just stands there. Is that legit? We got any child soldiers here? And the guy hits that other guy in the nose and his teeth are all coming out like bruh you work on a farm but you're not Clark Kent. Surprised the guy he punched didn't have his body go full Christopher Reeves (sorry, RIP).
I skipped through the episode where they spent 20 minutes describing everything that had happened in England.

Favourite thing about it is S1's OP. And I never knew the Vikings went to Canada and never read much about the vikings before watching season 1. Made me more interested in visiting some places here or going to those fuckoff places like rural Norway or the Faroe Islands. And after watching some of S1, when going in or past the woods or fields I thought "maybe some people fought a battle and died here". Soon I'll be one of those larping HEMA nerds (no).
