Was Gohan enraged vs 3rd form Freeza?

Yeah I'm under the belief that he was enraged. The fact that he told Freeza to just die (the same way he did when he ambushed Dodoria), and that even after healing from 2nd form Freeza's assault no statement was made about him being even close to his power (or surpassing Vegeta at the time, really) clinches it for me.

You don't think Gohan was above Vegeta after his Zenkai?

What reason do we have to believe that? Vegeta only mentioned Gohan's power further rising after he had the Zenkai from second form Freeza. Wouldn't it be noted if it was still rising at an astronomical rate?

It was already noted by Vegeta before the fight. Why assume it stopped raising right after Gohan started fighting even though Vegeta talked big about the power increases?

Don't you think someone as arrogant as Vegeta would make a big fuss over Gohan surpassing him?

@GS if Gohan's power was that far above Piccolo, don't you think he would've jumped in to help when Piccolo went on the defensive against 3rd form Freeza? Remember when he decided he had to flee with his "superior speed"? Why wouldn't Gohan go jump in at that point?

In normal circumstances maybe.. At that point hadn't he already tried attacking Freeza with that ki blast from behind? The fact that he got excited by Gohan's normal power after he got his Zenkai makes me think Gohan should be stronger. Vegeta had pretty much accepted death after his ki blast failed to do anything, so I doubt he'd get excited over someone being weaker than himself there..

I personally prefer the idea of Gohan being above Vegeta there because it'd explain why Vegeta thought the situation wasn't as hopeless as before. The only other reason I could think of is Vegeta keeping Gohan's rage boost in mind, but that's too inconsistent. The emphasis seems to be on Gohan's revived power. I'm good with Gohan>Vegeta there. He already considered the possibility of Gohan potentially becoming a Super Saiyan, so I kinda doubt he'd make a huge fuss over Gohan surpassing him under normal circumstances. Vegeta was probably already thinking about how he was going to get his next power-up.

Rage boosts are fairly inconsistent, but after producing a power around a million when his base power was lower I could wager Vegeta thought they had a good chance if Gohan got enraged, especially since Freeza wasn't even at his FP in 2nd form at the time.

Though, I'm still open to the two of them being near enough rivals, it's just that if Gohan truly surpassed Vegeta (who didn't know Freeza could transform further and thus couldn't get the opening to have Krillin injure him) I figure there'd be more hype, especially since Vegeta wasn't the only witness and Krillin already shat bricks at Vegeta being able to tussle with Freeza's first form.
