Was it stated anywhere how the names Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego were selected to be used as the official names for the transformations?

Tracetaro chose the name for UE, which AT approved of. I assume AT came up with the name migatte no gokui (UI)

No idea where Ultra Instinct comes from, but Ultra Ego is supposed to be the opposite. Vegeta has no reliance on instinct, all he does is based on his own ego.

You invented a time machine, went back to the past and told them to use those names, creating a predestination paradox.

Migatte basically means the body is "selfish" and acts on its own. AT admitted he didn't come up with it til the ToP and that he wasn't foreshadowing it during the sparring session with Whis in FnF though.

UE is "wagamama" no gokui in Japanese which is similar but the opposite concept of his mind doing exactly as it wants, focused on destruction
