What do you think that the Whitebeard pirate survivors did after Marineford? Join different pirate crews? Retire?

There's no way they would continue being Pirates after their Captain and 2nd Division Commander both died. The only way I see them continuing being Pirates is if they joined the Revolutionaries.

They will definetley have a role in the later parts of one piece. I feel like they are allies or maybe even part of shanks' crew

I mean, its not like they're weak or something. Marco, Vista and Jozu are all top tiers who aren't far inferior to the likes of the Admirals. Squardo is pretty much a high tier fellow.
