Were Android 19-20 > Freeza?

Can it work? After all, they can't be sense and made a lot of miscalculations and weren't strong as the Z fighters expected. What do you think?

The Z Fighters could actually estimate their powers trought movements and nobody noticed they were the wrong Androids. Vegeta even said this:

Chapter 343 (DBZ 149), P7.4
Vegeta: “I’ve realized by watching your faint movements up to now…That you guys don’t seem as terrible as the rumors made out.”

However, he didn't consider them a total joke like Freeza would be on this point.

I take it as since the Androids can absorb energy as #19 was able to absorbed Goku's power, it makes sense for Z warriors to take them seriously due to their dangerous ability.

Impossible to tell.

They got demolished by Super Saiyans and a guy who wielded power (Piccolo) that only a Super Saiyan should be capable of. They could be Freeza tier, less than Freeza, or above Freeza. I think they're above Freeza, but not by a significant margin. At least initially.

Agreed, none of their feats can be considered a threat to the SSjin tiers other than their ability to absorbed, I guess I'll just have them below Freeza then.

Yes. It works just fine to have them both above Freeza, particularly Android 20, even without absorptions.

Yes, but Android 19/20 were supposed to destroy Goku and the others just like they did to Trunks but Toriyama changed the story therefore he made the 19/20 as nothing compare to the Z fighters and the actual Androids were 17/18 who destroyed the Z fighters.

I find it difficult to assume Vegeta lost so much energy against #19 he'd be around the level of Freeza or lower, so at least #20 has to be significantly above Freezie Pop pre-absorption.

It's likely based on Beerus' comment in the anime that Goku's power as an SSJ probably could've defeated Freeza, as well as him only bothering to state Galu's power surpassed Freeza after he'd gone SS2 in the manga.

It's a blatant retcon. Toriyama intended 19 and 20 to be the Big Bads, but later changed his mind when his editor told him they were stupid. It doesn't necessarily have to change their strength, but it does change the way we view them.

But, when did he tell him that? If it was after the fights against 19/20, that means that, during those fights, he viewed
them as powers SSJ Trunks could barely put up a fight with.

Well, 17/18 powers were also retconned. At Mecha arc, Trunks said he could
fight them one on one, but them being two was the problem, whereas, at
Lone Warrior, he says he's totally outclassed. Therefore, what Trunks says
at Mecha saga is good evidence about where to place 19/20 powers.

He actually said he couldn't fight on Mecha Arc, and later on the Androids Arc he says he can go toe to toe with one of them.
