As we see, Kaioshin expects the Z Sword to be able to kill Boo. According to the legend, Kibito states that the sword will gain the user tremendous power. When Gohan pulls out the sword, Kaioshin seems surprised that it felt like an ordinary sword. So I guess the question is - what was Kaioshin expecting from the sword? Did he think it was an enchanted sword that would be able to overcome Boo's infinite regeneration? Kibito at least hinted that the user would gain power from it, but Kaioshin seemed fixated on the sword itself. How would a sword beat Boo?

I think kaioshin had no idea, as much as we didn't know. I guess he thought Gohan would feel some massive power entering him from the sword. Maybe ki or magic power.
