Gonna try Gintama again. Starting ep 1 now.
ep 1-2 are filler, if that matters. you watch? Ep 20 was the first ep I remember finding really funny, the ep 25 Death Note parody was the first one where I was like holy fuck this is genius.

I watched the 1st ep of Madoka Magica couple weeks ago.

Is every episode random as fuck or do they eventually form a story? Made it to the episode with the pet contest and I don’t think I can do anymore.

Lol. It is basically the characters in a bunch of situations, some super serious, most not. It has continuity/a plot and builds on itself (eg ep 13 that you must've seen introduces the space pirates, who are major antagonists) but there's no long arcs - they're all small arcs of 5 or less episodes. It's not an action series. It's more like if the characters were real and doing a load of random stuff.

-------

Watched One Piece ep 62, plus the final part of the Arlong fight and of the Arabasta fight, in Portuguese and understood like 5%, which is fine. Luffy's fights look totally ridiculous when you can't tell what's being said though lol. Like if I was new to One Piece and saw him talking seriously, followed by his arm suddenly stretching I'd be like wtf is this, spaghetti boy? The gomu gomu no storm went from being one of the most epic anime moments to literally making me laugh out loud, because without an exhilarating script you realise it just looks like the pizza dough got angry about being kneaded and decided to knead back, while shouting aaaaaah and gargling water.

Rose of Versailles, on Episode 27. Will finish by the end of the week probably, along with the CP9 and possibly Thriller Bark arcs of the OP manga

I enjoyed the space pirate episode. I guess Ill just watch a few episodes in between different shows so I don’t get burnt out.

Up to episode 8 in HxH. The episodes feel really short so it's going by fast. Was worried the hunter exams would take way too much time.

I take this back. The part of the exam in the tower is already dragging on for far too long lol.

Rose of Versailles, at episode 33. Will only have 7 episodes to go until I finish it once I resume watching this episode.

Also finished Sono Bisque Doll wa Ko wo Suru, disappointing ending to a cliche but somehow interesting show.

The first fully serious arc (Benizakura) is at ep 58, so that could be a good thing to slowly aim for. Personally my fave serious one was the Shinsengumi Crisis Arc 101 mark, but a lot of people online prefer the later serious arcs (eg Yoshiwara in Flames, some pretty rough fights for Gintoki and Kagura there) - I just love any arcs focused on the Shinsengumi. Between those the Wii and Ace Attorney parody arcs are fan-favourite comedic arcs, Kyuubei was a great mix of fighting and comedy and the Mitsuba arc is there too, which gives more backstory to Sougo and Hijikata's rivalry. If you don't like it by the end you don't like it by the end of the Crisis arc, you probably won't ever really love it.

I watched the first 1.5 eps of Jujutsu Kaisen dublado. All I understood was his grandpa dies, his friends might die, the finger might be tasty, Mirko Cro Cop and the MC was supposed to stay outside. Last spoilers from me.

It looked like a decent generic battle shounen to me (and I've seen enough of those), but tbf it seems a bit unique with how the MC is kind of a bad guy, so maybe I was wrong. And damn, you actually know someone offline who likes anime. I've not met one of those for like 4 years.

JJK is a pretty decent series. I was reading the manga for a while and I plan on going back to it. The artwork isn’t amazing so if you like HxH you’d love it.

Switched from 2011 to 1999 HxH. Definitely has been a big improvement so far, though the pacing is still fairly bad.
