What was the point of Muscle Tower?

None of the other RRA search teams required such a large base of operations. They had Metallic, the Murasaki brothers, Buyon, and Android 8 guarding General White. Doesn't this seem ridiculous?

Gero's lab was in the northern mountains, in a similarly snowy area. Maybe it was to allow easier commute for SSJ3 Kibito's father?

Well, it at least had a special room for Buyon and one which Murasaki could play his tricks.

Yeah but why? They had nothing in their possession worth guarding. It was a temporary base that set up only until they had found the Dragon Ball. Seems like a pretty huge waste of resources and manpower.

There's definitely something else they're guarding. Putting that many men into a tower is no temporary base. They were planning on taking over the world afterwards, so it's possible that area has some political importance or something.

But if you want to be boring, Toriyama just wanted a fun gauntlet for Goku.

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Android 8 claimed that White was going to kill all of the villagers after the DB was found, so perhaps they were going to turn it into a second HQ.

The main reason was probably transportation, considering what's presented on the official world map:



It's relatively close to where Gero would establish his mountain lab, yet further out the way of major cities as to not be disturbed and still close enough to East City to launch an invasion when Red was ready to fully conquer the world. Given Metallic and #8's presence in it and (despite the Frappe portion being at odds with what'd be revealed in Z) the anime making it apparent #8 was created near Jingle Village, the area probably served as either a primary or secondary lab for Gero at the time. If so, that'd make transportation of larger creations to other areas more difficult, so establishing a stronghold there would be necessary. It also makes sense for White to overcompensate in the amount of heavy hitters under his command when he lacks as much individual strength or military numbers as his peer Blue.
