Which arc/saga is the best Goku?

I think Goku peaked his character and likability in Freeza Arc.

All through-out DragonBall he was good and I'd say all the way going through the Freeza Saga. After that his character seemed to have been evolving in-reverse.

Anything after Freeze arc is trash. I enjoyed Goku in the Saiyan arc and Namek, as he was actually serious and acknowledged that he was fighting for the sake of his friends/the universe.

Cell arc Galu isn't thaaaat bad considering he was sick for like half the arc and at least realized he almost fucked up making Gohan fight at his little bitch moment. Boo arc Goku just lost his mind, although in fairness Toriyama himself had by that point as well.

I like Kid Goku the best, specifically the 22nd Budokai/Piccolo Daimoa arc

True, but Saiyan-Saga Goku had more redeemable qualities in my opinion.

To me post Freeza Saga he seemed to be almost apathetic to whatever happened.

Remember when he begged Raditz to let Gohan go? Yeah, Gohan was really young there but he never showed that kind-of caring anytime post Freeza Saga. I couldn't see him do something like that now for Goten or whatever.

Well, that's the same arc where Boo turning all his friends to candy didn't bother him that much since everyone had unquestioned faith in mass revivals. He did at least feel guilty about saving Satan and Dende-sama over his two kids, although he got over that pretty quickly too

Yeah, but the DragonBalls existed even then. To me it seems like he just didn't care as much for anyone afterward.

Like giving a punch out to Nappa for everyone he killed.

Well, in Nappas case he'd already killed Piccolo and led galu to believe no DBs

There is that, but I still maintain the believe Goku got worse post Freeza-Saga.

Yeah, he seemingly got more uncaring and aloof, although at least he could control his desire to fight people when it came to giving his sons an opportunity to shine (before the popularity polls screwed them over and forced to bring 2 back)

Gohan was higher than Goku in the Cell-Saga. I think that people just didn't think Boo Saga Gohan was as kewl, so his popularity went down and Goku went back to the top-spot.

Yeah Gohan actually scored higher than Galu in the popularity polls during the Cell arc (and Vegeta might have too, although I'm less certain about that). But Gohan softening up during the 7 years and getting asskicked by fatty made his popularity go to shit so Toriyama decided he wasn't MC material

Goku from Cell Arc didn't have much any fight except against Android 19 and Cell.

Piccolo and Gohan got a lot of spotlight this arc. Piccolo had plenty of fights and moments to shine(Android 20, Androids Round 1, Imperfect Cell Round 1, Androids Round 2, Imperfect Cell Round 2, and Cell. Jrs) while Gohan was the hero.

I think it would've been cool if Piccolo still got a lot of spotlight in the Boo Arc. I always imagine him fighting Dabra, Fat Boo and aiding with Kid Boo.
