It wasn't light speed. He ran through (most of) the entirety of Snake Way the first time around, he flew straight through most of the curves the second time around and would've been lucky to have crossed half the distance of the 1,000,000km distance the road covers. And if he had been flying at light speed it wouldn't have taken him over a day.
