Why did Goku barely use Kaioken vs Freeza?

Goku had assumed that Freeza had power left in reserve, but he had no clue as to how much. When he was battling with no hands Freeza both of them had said they would be getting serious. Goku could have one shotted that level of Freeza with regular Kaioken, which should have been extremely easy to pull off given that he was confident in using x10 at a mere 90,000 battle power. So why didn't he use lower levels of Kaioken?

Before Freeza went 50% Goku really didn't see any reason to. He and Freeza were pretty much equals without it. Then Freeza used 50% and Goku had to go 10x at all once.

But that's exactly my point. Why would he fight on equal levels when he could easily overwhelm that level?

Because Goku was enjoying the fight. It's more or less the same thing as him not using Kaio-Ken vs Ginyu. Freeza was already a match for his base level, and Goku only uses Kaio-Ken if he absolutely needs to.

I think Goku thought that Frieza was probably holding back more power than him. Fighting at a lower power lets you familiarize yourself with an opponent that way you know what moves to make when you're likely overpowered by that opponent.

When has goku ever overpowered an opponent when he could have?
Against the Ginyus.

Yeah, I think this is probably the case. Though he made no indication of knowing exactly how much power Freeza had in reserve, he was definitely aware of it.

Did Goku know Freeza was holding back? Piccolo knew, but I don’t remember nothing about Goku. He declared warm up was over so I don’t think he expected Freeza to be holding back anymore.

I think Goku was more focused on enjoying the fight at that point. Even after noting how Freeza took no damage from his surprise kick, he didn't seem too worried about the situation.
