Why do people think the human Z Fighters were ever relevant?

Roushi had some cool moments in the Pilaf and 21st Budoukai arcs, but he was surpassed by 13-year-old Gokuu in the Red Ribbon arc. Then, he retires after forfeiting to Tenshinhan in the 22nd Budoukai arc and he dies after failing to seal away Piccolo with the Mafuuba in the Daimaoh arc. He does nothing else for the rest of the original manga.

Everyone else? They pretty much always sucked:

Yamcha? Held his own against Gokuu in their first fight only because Gokuu was hungry. When Gokuu was full in the second fight, Yamcha got stomped in like three panels.

Jobbed to Jackie Chun (Roushi) in the 21st Budoukai arc.

Did nothing for the entire Red Ribbon arc other than beat the Invisible Guy (fodder) at Baba's place. Then, he jobs to the Mummy.

Jobbed to Tenshinhan at the 22nd Budoukai.

Doesn't do anything for the entire Daimaoh arc.

Jobbed to Shen (Kami) at the 23rd Budoukai.

Killed by a Saibaiman in the Saiyan arc.

Doesn't do anything for the entire Freeza arc.

Jobbed to No.20 (Gero) in the Android/Cell arc.

Jobbed to a Cell Junior at the Cell Game.

Doesn't do anything for the entire Boo arc.

Kurilin? Jobbed to Gokuu when they first fought during their training for the 21st Budoukai.

Beat Bacterian (fodder), then jobbed to Jackie Chun (Roushi) at the 21st Budoukai.

Jobbed to General Blue in the Red Ribbon arc.

Jobbed to the Vampire at Baba's place.

Beat Chiaotzu (fodder), then jobbed to Gokuu at the 22nd Budoukai.

Killed by Tambourine and does nothing for the entire Daimaoh arc.

Jobbed to Piccolo at the 23rd Budoukai.

Killed a couple of Saibaiman (fodder) in the Saiyan arc, then jobbed to Nappa and later Vegeeta. Fired the Genkidama at Vegeeta, who dodges it and Gohan has to deflect it so it actually hits Vegeeta, who still survives it and stomps Kurilin one last time. Later has a chance to kill Vegeeta, but he ends up sparing him like an idiot because Gokuu told him to do so even though Kurilin is a grown man who can make his own decisions.

Beat a nameless Freeza soldier (fodder) on Planet Nameck. Saves Dende from Doduria, but is still weaker than Zarbon after getting his potential unlocked. Jobs to Ghurd (who was literally weaker than him) and Ricoom back-to-back. Fails to beat Ginyuu-Gokuu (fodder) despite Gohan helping him. Saves Dende and Gohan from Freeza 2, but gets stomped and later killed by Form 4.

Failed to shut off No.18 because he was a simp.

Jobbed to Perfect Cell and a Cell Junior.

Beat some random fat guy (fodder) in the Boo arc, then jobbed to Darbra and later got killed by Boo.

Tenshinhan? Stomped Yamcha (fodder) and beat Jackie Chun (Roushi), then ended up losing to Gokuu rather easily; Tenshinhan only won the match on a technicality.

Brought the Mafuuba container to face Daimaoh without realizing it was cracked like a dumbass. Jobbed to Drum. Saved Gokuu from being killed by Daimaoh's full power blast, but gets used as a hostage later.

Beat Cyborg Tao (fodder), then jobbed to Gokuu at the 23rd Budoukai.

Beat a Saibaiman (fodder), then jobbed to Nappa before killing himself in the Saiyan arc.

Does nothing for the entire Freeza arc.

Jobbed to No.17 in the Android/Cell arc. Fails to inflict any damage on Semiperfect Cell despite nearly killing himself with the Shin Kikouhoh. Then, jobs to a Cell Junior at the Cell Game.

Does literally nothing for the vast majority of the Boo arc, then he jobs to Bootenks and gets killed off-screen when Boo blows up the planet (Dende didn't even bother healing his ass in the manga even though Tenshinhan had just saved him from Bootenks's blast. Huge dick move, Dende).

Chiaotzu? Lost to Kurilin (fodder) at the 22nd Budoukai despite having a clear advantage with his paralysis.

Gets killed by Daimaoh.

Jobs to Cyborg Tao (fodder) at the 23rd Budoukai, failing to make it past the prelims.

Fails to hurt Nappa at all despite literally killing himself by exploding in the Saiyan arc.

Does literally nothing for the rest of the series, staying behind because he's too weak.

Yajirobeh? Beats Cymbal (fodder) in the Daimaoh arc. Climbs the Karin tower with Gokuu on his back, but is too weak/scared to face Daimaoh or the other demon spawn.

Jobs to Shen (Kami) at the 23rd Budoukai, failing to make it past the prelims.

Doesn't even bother showing up to fight the Saiyans at first because he's too scared even though he trained with the other humans under Kami and Popo. He lands a few cheap shots on Vegeeta to save Gokuu and Gohan, then gets stomped and never fights again.

Bruh, the humans always sucked ass lmao. No surprise the characters who are actually the same species as Gokuu get most of the spotlight.

The only non-Saiyan who ever really mattered was Piccolo.

El único no Saiyan que realmente importaba era Piccolo.

De Jobbed a Perfect Cell y a un junior de Cell.

Derroté a un gordo cualquiera (carnaje) en el arco de Boo, luego me enfrenté a Darbra y después me mató Boo.

¿Tenshinhan? Pisoteó a Yamcha (carne de cañón) y venció a Jackie Chun (Roushi), pero acabó perdiendo contra Gokuu con bastante facilidad; Tenshinhan solo ganó el combate por una cuestión técnica.

No logra herir a Nappa en absoluto a pesar de que literalmente se mató explotando en el arco del Saiyan.

Literalmente no hace nada durante el resto de la serie, quedándose porque es demasiado débil.

¿Yajirobeh? Vence a Cymbal (carnívoro) en el arco de Daimaoh. Sube la torre Karin con Gokuu a su espalda, pero está demasiado débil/asustado para enfrentarse a Daimaoh o al otro engendro demoníaco.

Trabajos a Shen (Kami) en el 23º Budukai, sin pasar de las preliminares.

Ni siquiera se molesta en aparecer para luchar contra los Saiyans al principio porque tiene demasiado miedo, aunque entrenó con los otros humanos bajo Kami y Popo. Asesta algunos golpes bajos a Vegeeta para salvar a Gokuu y Gohan, luego es aplastado y nunca vuelve a pelear.

Bueno, no lo considero porque primero confundes su relevancia narrativa con el poder de combate, y aquí interpretas que "si un personaje pierde combates o deja de ganar, entonces nunca fue relevante", cuando no es así. Estar en desventaja es diferente a no importar, y en DB, Goku progresa por la influencia directa o indirecta de otros. Los humanos en DB cumplen roles claros:
Roshi: origen del camino marcial, filosofía y límites humanos
Krilin: catalizador emocional, humanidad
Tenshinhan: sacrificio, orgullo y disciplina
Yamcha: tragedia, obsolescencia
Yajirobe: ironía y supervivencia
Y que luego sean superados es intencionado, no un engaño. Se necesitan humanos para mantener el ritmo y que las amenazas se sientan reales, para que la muerte importe. Perdón por cualquier error, soy nuevo en esto, ¡gracias!

It's his fault that Vegeeta dodged the Genkidama, too. No matter how you slice it, Yajirobeh is a minor character who rarely even shows up. Two times he helped out doesn't make him relevant over the course of a 500+ chapter manga.
