Well, the obvious answer is that she's of a similar race to Kaido, given her size and them not seeming to be the result of her DF ability.
As for how it ties into her Ancient Zoan design, there's not much, though the red colouration displayed in the full colour manga could be based on the legs of the Sphodros Rufipes, a descendant of the species of extinct spider her DF power grants.
