Why doesn't Shanks go to Raftel?

Well, he could probably use One Piece to eliminate people like Blackbeard, if what Whitebeard said about it was true.

He can't progress, let alone go to Raftel, because of the govt and the other Yonko. Also I would imagine that he just doesn't know how to get there. Given the way Roger talked about the way to get there to WB I imagine it's not as simple as just sailing until you find it at the end of the Grand Line.

Who is stopping him right now? He is now the strongest Yonko unless Big Mom is somehow stronger (lol). I don't think anyone in the Government can lay a hand on him. Amd for sure it isn't simple to get there, but he was on the ship when they did get there.

All of the admirals can definitely lay a hand on him and Akainu could probably fuck him up, but either way that's why both the entire government and the Shichibukai (admittedly just Mihawk at this point, really) exist among the Great Powers

Shanks was able to stop Kaido from attacking Whitebeard at Marineford and seemed to take no damage, implying that he never fought Kaido. Kaido seemed to avoid fighting him for some reason, but as you said, the crew itself is likely a big factor.

Akainu knew to back off in Marineford when Shanks stopped him with his sword, it seemed like he was inferior to me.

It has been two years since then and Akainu had already gotten fucked up by WB. Prior to that Akainu and even Aokiji performed well against WB when he wasn't enraged, so I'm sure even then he'd have been no pushover to Shanks. This is conjecture but I'd imagine that Akainu's improved more post-TS than Shanks just because he's fleet admiral now.

I've always assumed that you can't just sail to raftel, that something more is required.

That's always been what's weird. Like why would only Roger know how to get there. It at the very least implies the log pose doesn't work.

Good idea with the log pose. It's probably something bermuda-triangle esque where compasses, ships and the like go haywire.

Yeah that's a nice theory. Yet you'd still think it would be relatively easy to find if you just had to sail in every direction. I think there is something more to it, perhaps even added on top of the log pose not working. All of that aside, it's clear that Raftel is at least on water.
