Will any big "discoveries" ever be made again?

It's 2016. Anybody with one ninth of a brain has a pretty good grasp on the Dragon Ball manga, so I ask; will there ever be any major discoveries from now on? By this, I mean that we've been believing something wrong for all of these years. Personally I don't think so, but I would like to be proven wrong. Learning new things is always what kept me engaged in this stuff.

DBS is canon and I'm pretty sure people haven't believed it in years

DBS isn't canon at all. I just flipped through all 42 volumes of my manga, and SSGod, Beers, Whis, Champa, and Vados aren't there.

You've missed out on numerous debates then. There have been people arguing Piccolo > Base since like 2010. It was a very popular idea back then.

I don't think any kind of solid discovery will be made, unless someone figures out a way to have the SS2 Gohan vs Kibito retcon make sense. The only other way I see older material becoming heavily debated is if Toriyama makes another huge contradiction in an interview.

What's this about SSJ2 Gohan vs Kibito?

Gohan using Super Saiyan 2 vs Kibito makes little sense in the context of the fights in Babidi's ship. In particular, Kaioshit being shocked at base Vegeta's power, and being surprised at the concept of Super Saiyan at all when Goku uses it vs Yakon.

Gohan turned Super Saiyan and Yamu & Spopobitch used their meter to determine his battle power, they were unimpressed. Additionally, they know of Dabra and shit themselves in his presence, if Gohan was merely a Ssj while fighting Dabra than Dabra own power must be unimpressive to them as well, which doesn't make sense.

However, the art-work clearly shows Gohan fighting as a Super Saiyan. His aura isn't radiating violently like all Ssj2's aura's do, there was no lightning, which is a norm for Ssj2 and his hair was standing more on end with more detail.

Blame Toriyama for making things up as he goes along.

Pretty much nothing makes sense when you compare the fighting on the ship to the fighting at the budokai.

Additionally, they know of Dabra and shit themselves in his presence, if Gohan was merely a Ssj while fighting Dabra than Dabra own power must be unimpressive to them as well, which doesn't make sense.

They only consider them unimportant before the fight when gohan is still in base. He then transforms right to SSJ2 and they're calling it tremendous power etc.

Gohan was definitely a Ssj2 against Kibito and a Ssj against Dabra.
