I think he used full power while finishing Akkuman. The "I overdid it a little" has not to mean he was still holding back IMO. It could just mean "I went a bit too far".

Maybe he meant he over-did it a-bit as-in, he put in more effort than he should have in the attack (he thinks). Considering the kick finished the fight in one-shot.

i get that, but that still doesn't disprove goku potentially only meaning his effort-level, it doesn't have to be his highest, but he could have been using a-bit of effort
