Absolutely agree. We all know how strong they are each other but with the help of power levels, we can tell how much stronger they are.

It's a double edged sword. Yes, the story would have been most likely more consistent but the BP's also allowed fan to speculate on how specifically strong or stronger characters could become. But with great power levels comes great responsibility. And many characters have been fanwanked to absurd degrees over the years because of those damn numbers.

Yes.
People of your universe are weird guessing random numbers to see how strong we are...

Considering they don't go further than Frieza arc... right?
They don't make a huge difference, plus I find em kinda accurate excluding nappa who I don't mind being at 4k but some people contradict it.
Other than that I haven't really found an official BP that I tend to disagree with.

Even AT himself admitted in the interview that power levels are completely overrated since Goku from BoZ was from 400 to 150,000,000.

They were useful in conceptualizing the difference in power between fighters (say the first big example of Goku, Piccolo and Raditz) which raises the stakes and heightens the tension as we feel that there is a big gap between them.

I think BP are what drew a large audience to the series in the first place, speaking distinctly about Western viewers here. Teenage boys loved the idea of scouters and battle powers. When DBZ was only airing a few episodes here in the states in like 1997 I was online reading battle powers about parts of the series I wouldn't even see for another 5+ years.
