I refuse to watch the trailer considering how terrible the thumbnail looks. This can't be serious

I saw the trailer and yeah, it's as bad as that still shot would suggest. The animation in itself isn't bad in terms of movement, but the CGI models aren't able to convey the same emotions as the original. It doesn't help that the trailer suggests it'll offer nothing new and just be the first movie shot for shot in CG, making it a pretty worthless cashgrab compared to just re-releasing the first movie in Blu-Ray or something.

I'm a little interested to see how much the script differs from the original's (English or Japanese) and if the action sequences or themes touched on differ due this being made 20 years after the original. Is appealing to kids nowadays much different than around 2000?

I did laugh at that thumbnail.
