Yajirobe enters the 22nd with a sword; does he sweep? What about vs the 23rd Budokai?

Lol. I'm thinking he sweeps the 22nd, if he's willing to go all out (not sure he'd want to). Ignore the no-killing rule.

23rd I'm guessing he has little to no chance vs Goku, Shen and Piccolo, but what about vs Tien? There's also Chichi (nooo), Krillin, Cyborg Tao and Yamcha. I guess he beats Chi Chi, but the others? I saw he lost to Shen in the back, idk if it was competitive.

Goku said Yajirobe was the toughest fighter he’s ever faced, so if he enters the tournament he’ll sweep everyone except for Tenshinhan who he’ll beat with mid difficulty and Goku who he’ll beat with high difficulty.

Why would he beat Goku? Yaji was freaked out when he saw Goku stomp Tambourine.

Goku wasn't going anywhere near all out against Yajirobe. Look at his performance against Tambourine after... Yajirobe wanted nothing to do with Goku after witnessing that.

As for the 22nd, he beats Roshi and probably match level Goku if he has a sword. Tenshinhan would be pretty tough to beat, but it might be possible with the sword. I can't see him beating Goku.

Yajirobe wasn't going all out either. All out was vs Cymbal. Yajirobe is a sword fighter with Japanese sandals. It's not like Trunks, where the sword is supplementary. It's like if pre-flying Goku didn't use his KHH - it's his strongest attack and is part of how he moves. Or like asking Chazou to not fly.

Why could he have a chance vs Tien but not vs Goku? Goku and Tien were even. Or you think Tien was holding back in the 22nd's final less than Goku was, because Tien fought with more harmful intent? If Tambourine had killed Chazou instead of Krillin, does Tien vs Tambourine end up more competitive than Goku vs Tambourine rd2 was?

A zenkai is what I assumed happened post-Tambo, but I know some people say zenkais were quite rare. Goku just had a very rough fight, then fell from the sky onto the road. Then he fell from the sky. That seems zenkai worthy. Someone said (probs Vegeta. Or Raditz or Dodoria) said that saiyans get stronger whenever they fight. I think Krillin said Goku got stronger every time he fought. So zenkai or not, I'd expect him to be stronger post-meal than during the 22nd's final.

I think he would lose to match level Goku, which was the suppressed version that Tenshinhan was destroying. Goku powered up to battle level and started pounding Ten.

Yajirobe might not have been going all out against Goku but his reaction to Goku vs Tambourine is telling enough. He wanted nothing to do with Goku after witnessing that.

Imo it's something like this:

22nd Battle Level Goku > Tenshinhan > Yajirobe > 22nd Match Level Goku >/> 22nd Roshi

A zenkai could definitely be possible, but even if it were the case, we can't know what level Goku was using against Yajirobe aside from the fact that it wasn't his full power. It's a safe bet that Goku used his match level power there, which even factoring in a Zenkai it's doubtful he would be above 22nd Tenshinhan level there - and Yajirobe was still weaker than Goku during their fight.
