In the anime, he seemed maybe a bit surprised, but he didn't look like he was about to run away or anything. Which we know he might have done, had he really not have a chance.

@ahill1 It looks more like Yajirobe is shocked because he thought Goku had been blasted, not that he was worried about fighting Tambourine.
