Yamcha's probably a bit stronger, but Chaozu's telekinetic abilities might be able to give him the win if Yamcha isn't crafty enough to break out of them.

Yamcha used to be a bandit and frequently schemed against Galu when they were enemies, so I think he can outsmart Chaozu

Is it fair to have Kuririn and Yamcha as exact equals?

Nope. Krillin said that [Krillin] was slightly stronger.

Did he? As far as I remember, Kuririn said they were about equal.

Chapter: 122, P13.3-7
Kame-sennin: “Panput was truly a fearsomely skilled master, but only when seen from an ordinary level…To your eyes, however, he didn’t look like anything special…That shows just how much you two have acquired strength that surpasses the ordinary.”
Kuririn: “But…Yamcha lost, and he was about as good as me. And even I had a really tough fight against that runt.”
Kame-sennin: “There’s no helping that. It’s because your opponents were also super masters who have surpassed the ordinary.”

I say Yamcha was slightly stronger. He could probably outsmart Chouzu like Kuririn did.

Kuririn said "even I" so yeah he's a bit stronger.

He was "about" as good. Yamcha is a bit lower I'd think. A small but noticeable gap during a long fight. A bit closer than Cell vs Goku. I'd say he's on par with Chaozu, so unless he thinks to distract him, he'll lose.

Kame-sennin said that if the KMHMH was properly taught, Kuririn would have decided the match at the moment he fired it. I could see a similar situation with Yamcha, with him dodging Chaozu's Dodonpa and actually finishing the fight with his KMHMH, which wasn't as untrained as Kuririn's.
