This somehow tell me, Future Trunks wasn't originally intended of being on film.

Either way, TOEI may also have lot of respect for Piccolo.

I suppose if it's Goku saying it, he's been away from Earth for a long time and to him Piccolo was his rival. Plus when they were all on Namek, within a few hours Piccolo and Vegeta both had times when they were stronger than the other one. Goku wouldn't know if Piccolo fell way behind (at this point Piccolo was very possibly stronger than Vegeta anyway, since he was stronger than Base Vegeta during the fights with 19 and Gero).

Yeh if Toei added it, it shows respect for Piccolo.

Oh is this Movie 9 with Bojack? Then yeh pretty weird to include Piccolo and not Trunks. I can understand Goku including Piccolo though, because he knows Gohan looks up to Piccolo as a fighting (and life) mentor.

Yet, have some credibility considering Piccolo got chance of fighting Bojack, as well, Vegeta. Future Trunks never got that right.
