Your Thoughts on Gohan Vs Goku before ToP

As a challenge from Supreme.

I've always gone back and forth of which is my favorite fight of this series but recently after watching Gohan Vs Goku I just noticed how big deal it was. Here is Gohan who trained to regain his fighting spirit back along with his ultimate form and greatly improved it and moreover he eliminated the weakness that caused him to lose against Boo and responsible for Goku's death from Cell Games i.e, his cockiness of his power where he toyed his opponents. This time he wants to test his power against Goku and wanted him to be taken seriously which Goku was really surprised of this and his respond was... "Strong guys from all the universes are gonna gather at the tournament. I thought there'd be no better place to train myself. But I've been forgettin', Gohan, that you've... been right here beside me!" just gives me a chill man.

Also the post fight scene: "Let's go together... Even further ahead."

What about you guys?

All it amounted to was just fanservice of seeing Gohan make GAINZ that hyped up Gohan even more and made his overall role in the ToP even more disappointing. Still probably the best of the forced sparring sessions at that point of the arc other than the Freeza one.

But for real, that was my favorite part of the recruitment phase. It really got me hyped on Gohan actually doing something in the tournament...and then he didn't. He didn't ascend to a new level, he didn't even fight alongside his father if you don't count the U7 beam struggle with Anallazer, and he wasn't in the top 3 U7 fighters to survive the tournament. The fight itself was good, though.

Yeah, if only Toei will keep Goku's word about training with Gohan. :toei
