I respect your opinion

But I disagree. The reason Season Zero didn't work is because it was too dark. Only when they made the show more kid friendly was when the show took off. Something they probably learned from Pokemon/Digimon.
Season Zero didn't have much of a story, tbh. It was more episodic, I think.

Ya know I've been thinking about this a lot more recently. 5D's I HATED and made fun of it (being honest I didn't even watch it and said I hated it). But than it was on and me being the person I am (rather than watch TV, use it as just ambient noise I just glanced at it and was pulled in). While I don't know if I want to say it's the best series I can definitely say it's the best spin off.

- Turbo Duels are pretty cool and fun to watch.
- Replaces the light hearted and kitty tone that GX had with the more darker and serious tone the original had.
- Badass main character. Yusei is probably the coolest of all main protagonist
- Duels that kept you on the edge of your seat.
- The lead's posse aren't at all annoying or background characters with no purpose and don't do anything.

1. In the original really Yugi, Kaiba, & Joey were the only protagonist who were apart of the action. Tristan, Tea, & Mokuba we're just side characters to cheer them on.

2. The cast of GX all did something but everyone of those characters were kind of annoying. Jaden has a personality that I like but it was a bit TOO excessive to the point where it was downright annoying. The only characters of GX I liked really were: Aster Phoenix & Chazz to an extent.

3. Zexal........ Yeah.....
4. Arc V I've only seen about a dozen episodes so I can't say anything but it's better than Zexal.
5. 5D's EVERYONE has a purpose, they aren't annoying, they're all pretty cool and have their fair share of good duels.

5A. Yusei as I said best lead of the series.
5B. Jack is a damn good mirror of Kaiba and a bit more likeable and badass.
5C. Crow is more like a diet Joey.
5D (No Pun Intended). Akiza is a cool/interesting female lead (she's also my wife.... just Saiyan).
5E. The Twins actually aren't annoying and were kind of cute.

5D's is hands down the best of the spin offs but I don't know if I want to say it's the best, but I can definitely see myself changing my mind on that in the future.

Duel Monsters = 5D's > GX > Arc V > Zexal

Like I said I don't think first Yu-Gi-Oh! really is that great. Maybe people like it because of nostalgia, but as a show, 5D's is better even looking at it objectively. There is great writing and character development in the series. It's also darker and even deals with themes such as poverty. I think it's better.

People just ridicule and dismiss it, because of the cards on a motorcycle way it's played in the series. The cards aren't even that important to the story, I think they just are a tools to tell the story, not what the entire show is about (like the previous ones were).

Also cards on motorcycles is better than just standing around.

But it seems people are finally realising how great the show really was now that it's long been over. You never know what you have until it's gone.

Probably better than that gay GX shit or the new stuff. But I never had any interest in them after the 2nd series anime really

People will keep saying DM because they simply can't get over the nostalgia.
Take that away and 5D's is easily the best (or at least most mature).

To be honest, I think you could say that the first Yu-Gi-Oh! characters were maybe even caricatures. I mean the heroes, like they could do no wrong (I'm not talking Season Zero). Basically what I'm trying to say they were one-dimensional, and really cliché and cheesy when you think about it.

Kaiba and Mokuba used to be evil and Joey and some others used to be teenage delinquents... but yeah, for the most part the dualism between good and evil is extremely clear.

Yeah, I mean once their characters were set, they were set. Like once some of them turn from evil to good or whatever, they don't change much.

I can see that. Yusei, Crow, & Jack came from nothing living in a dingy area since their parents died. Crow used Duel Monsters as a way of learning to read having to scavenge his cards from a dump. But they all came from nothing and went on to become pros in the big leagues. Yusei and Crow from the looks of their character were always good and cared about others. Crow even taking care of a group of orphans, while Jack was kind of an asshole who gave what was supposed to be one of his best friends an ultimatum of duel him or let a kid die, than jacks his duel runner and takes off to become Turbo Dueling King.

Akiza at first was a really bitter, bitchy person because she was disowned by her parents and even when they admitted how bad they felt for doing so and wanted her back she just treated them like strangers and bitched Yusei out for bringing them to her. But after he 2nd duel with Yusei she becomes more likeable, MUCH more likeable.

The Twins were shut ins having been raised by a posh family, but I never really saw any development with them.

I will admit nostalgia does play a big part for me with the original Yu-Gi-Oh but 5D's is better in almost every aspect but the original makes up for what it lacks with how good it's duels were.

Jack does become kewler (a better person) later in the series, though.

EDIT: Also the twins do have some character development, even-though it might just be less noticeable to you than it is to me.

Could you? Most people don't seem to like Arc-V. And most people seem to put either the original (nostalgia hacks :troll :troll :troll ) or 5D's as their favourite.

I've seen that too, but I don't see people unanimously putting 5Ds at the top.

To me seems like either DM or 5D's more recently. Some people'd also say GX, but that's also mostly because of nostalgia I think.
