Zoan Awakening

Given what we've seen in 1044, Zoan awakening has been completely changed from what we know. It appears that the Impel Down guards might have been anomalies when it came to their Awakening. With this in mind, does it give credence to the idea that Kaido and his top crew members were all Awakened Zoans despite not appearing like the Impel Down guards?

Kaido kind of looks like those guards in this panel.

Kind of, yeah. But weren't the Impel Down guards basically acting subconsciously?

The Impel Down guards were basically fodder with an annoying gimmick that came with awakening. Kaido as a Yonko would learn to control himself in that state I would assume.
