Aspinall is a HW dude, and moves like a lighter guy.
Frequency of fights is irrelevant to who's likely stronger. The reason aspinall hasn't fought more os because Jones was holding it up.
Poatan has little grappling, especially offensively. Similar to Gane there. Jones dominating Gane like that is because he has a huge hole in his game.
Not reading all that shit, after you already made every excuse in thr book for Jones for months.
Tom didn't avoid shit lmao. You're so clouded by who you like. Why would he build a fight with a guy in the division below him?
Nah, JJ was never a HW type of body. Poatan is natural at 243 pounds. That's the same as Stipe Miocic.
No it's not. It's relevant in regards to level of competition. Who has Aspinall faced? Volkov? Lost twice to Gane. Curtis Blaydes? Had been KO'd brutally by Ngannou twice.
No, he hasn't. Even with a broken hand and under the weather, he stuffed 12 takedowns from Ankalaev and made the fight basically 50/50... Ankalaev has wrestling from Dagestan... In takedown, he's obviously way better than Tom, who's instead a jiu jitsu guy like Charles Oliveira. A Topuria wrestler would be like Pereira in a sense. Good takedown defense, only difference is Topuria goes for takedown. Outside that, none. Curiously, Topuria took a picture with Alex Pereira together, saying "this will be out year again" lol ...
Just see, Alex Pereira fought Izzy and went 1-1 ... When on LHW, he beat Jiri Prochazka twice... Same Jiri who had destroyed Reyes, who was one of the toughest matches for JJ in LHW. Pereira is fitting way more in HW. If he has the weight, which he does (he's a HW, same weight as Stipe) and was doing so well against current era LHWs, he's likely to be on par if not slightly better than Tom. That's why Pereira is excited for the fight. Tom is avoiding while there would be no one else at HW that'd be a big name like Pereira.
Even Ankalaev has said "met chama in October" and posted himself weighing 110kg saying he can be easily HW too lol ... Basically, they're projecting a rematch in HW if Alex gets the title. Ankalaev said recently that in his opinion, Alex is different level from the HWs and he'd be the champion. Ngannou when asked recently said "Glover Teixeira said once to me that Alex would fight at HW. He'd definitely be successful there. Champion? Possibly. For how long? I don't know. But yeah, it's definitely possible for him to be a champion"
And when comparing prime Miocic to any fighter, Ngannou would always say "prime Miocic"... Even vs HW DC and Tom Aspinall without hesitance. When asked about Prime Miocic vs Pereira, he was like "tough one... I'd say prime Miocic yet, but I can be wrong, Alex can be better"...
Speed isn't the end all be all. Tom's blitzes aren't layered enough. He generally goes into linear blitzes with a predictable combo — jab jab, right cross, left hook ... And he goes into straight lines, which against a seasoned kickboxer, would be fatal as it leaves his chin wide open. Even before KO'ing Sergei, he punched like without even looking at Sergei and while he hit, he was hit in exchange by a left hook, though with not much potency... Alex called out Tom for UFC 300 main event. The UFC matchmakers considered it to the point they asked Tom, Tom said yes. And Alex kept his stance... But then Dana said he'd rather have Alex fighting in LHW otherwise people wouldn't understand if he got an interim third belt out of nothing...
Tom's takedown vs Arlovski isn't how seasoned wrestlers go for takedown unless they are totally desperately ... Seasoned wrestlers approach through close distance skipping from punches, like Ankalaev tried 12x vs Pereira ... Or how JJ managed to do vs Gane (slipping from a pinch and taking him down)... Tom went like a rugby player tacking Arlovski, which shows his takedown isn't nearly the same as whoever's base is wrestling rather than jiujitsu, like Ankalaev, Jon Jones... Tom is good to defend himself in the ground if he's taken down. For example, Charles' takedown isn't that good despite being elite in jiu jitsu... Now compared to Islam and Tsarukyan, he can defend himself if taken to the ground but Islam and Tsarukyan are way better at taking down. Same way Fabrício Werdum , one of the best jiu jitsu MMA fighters ever, wouldn't try takedowns... Not jiu jitsu 's main base. And when he'd try, his rate of success wouldn't be good.
