It may be so, but it doesn't change the fact these differences ultimately don't change the core of the plot at all. It's to the point you're not missing out on any context if you skip the first two arcs. Honestly, I see no compelling reason to keep these adaptations around.
Fairly sure Beerus' presence in the anime starting with Champa Arc is a dead give away that the events of Battle of Gods are all canon. The anime and manga versions of this movie weren't necessary to get that point across. Proof being manga RoF wasn't even adapted.
None. Absolutely none. Even dicking around by torturing them first would've been more in-character than outright sparing them. You know, like Gogeta did right after being deadass ready to kill Broly.

To keep a long story short, I think of Battle of Gods as one of the best DB movies, mainly because it brought a breath of fresh air compared to the others. Not only in terms of content it proposed, but also because the potential it brought to the table single-handedly revived the franchise...
I still do to pass time, but I might drop Super after this arc. What started out as a promising premise dropped the ball when whatever idea they think is good directly affects the narrative of the original manga. And it's always for the worse rather than the better.
