WB/Kaido/BM running from Garp is still insane to me. Not sure what Oda’s intention is for Garling + Gods Knights to get dropped like flies this early here though if he’s meant to be one of the key figures in the final war. He may not yet be at his prime but’s still odd

A top tier like Oden couldn't do it, but Oda's self insert aka Shanks might represent the floor needed for the feat. He has transcendent Haki.

He's not low diff material, but he's by no means a rival to Garp. He's probably Yonko level. Shiki putting up a struggle in that 2v1 makes more sense knowing he's below Garp but still edges out Sengoku.

It's a requirement to be a top tier at this point.

A lot depends on the abilities shown by Roger and Rocks during this event. Haki is a part of swordsmanship. I've always thought there could be more advanced techniques that could allow Shanks to still be stronger but that has yet to be proven.

It's said that all of the fiercest of the seas made it to God Valley. He's a year older than Garp and he was still Vice Admiral by the time Garp was having duels with Roger. This flashback solidifies him as barely scraping Yonko level at his peak.

Maybe Shanks mom is a Davy clan too. He’s a child of destiny somehow.
