Well, if we give a moderate rage boost on top of SSJ2, then 2x can work, it just was not 2x for CGs Gohan. I like the rage boost theory because I din really think there's a big gap between Goku and Gohan as MSSJs in the CGs, I think it was a noticeable, moderate gap, but nothing big — nothing...

Well, it's likely chi detectors can detect a chi, even if flashed quickly, faster than scanners. At least the scouters couldn't pick on Goku powering up to ~ 60,000 while Vegeta could sense that power and know it was being raised in bursts, so perhaps it may be the same with Piccolo and Gero.

The best explanation I guess is that Goku was suppressed initially when turning SSJ... And revealed his full power when fighting. The same would be valid for Vegeta as he was confident #19 would do the same he did to Goku... Maybe the "so far above the data projected" would mean his data...
