There's some weight behind Yamcha hating, if I'm being honest. The guy lost the first rounds in all three tournaments, and was the first death against Nappa and Vegeta (And he was the only one Nappa himself didn't even fight against), and almost died against #19 and #20 and did nothing after that support wise, even compared to Krillin and Tenshinhan.

Nah. Yamcha was the first one who actually kind-of was super-human level who wasn't Goku IIRC. The first tournament was a loss yeah. Maybe even embarrassing, but Kame-sen'nin complimented him IIRC, also unlike the other two he didn't get to train with Kame-sen'nin and still made it that far and he was also much higher than Kuririn before training. Besides his defeat wasn't shown in an overly embarrassing manner and he accepted defeat graciously. He also was the only one who had enough brain power to figure-out who Jackie Chun was.

Second one was a great fight and it was just an unfortunate and painful loss. He ended-up forgiving Tenshinhan too.

Third one was embarrassing, but again was complimented and created/developed his own technique, which surpassed the basic KHH in almost, maybe, all ways. He came a long way from the beginning of the series, when he marvelled at the legendary KHH.

Yamcha actually has more feats than Tenshinhan. He beat up Olibu (Or was it Paikuhan?) and Kaio was going to send him and Kuririn if Goku and Vegeta couldn't beat Kid Boo. Were was Tenshinhan during all this?
