37 reasons why Bulma is an awful character

Any counterarguments you may have, this list shuts them all down

1) She didn't invent the Dragon Radar. Pilaf did as he made his first. And he later perfected it to a satellite radar that could pull up the precise location of Dragon Balls on live video, surpassing Bulma's portable radar.

2) Pilaf would have eventually come for Goku's ball and given him a reason to leave the mountains. Ergo the series starts without BUlma

3) Pilaf is an even bigger genius than Bulma. So is Dr. Gero. Dr. Briefs is no dumber than Bulma. So Bulma is not the smartest character

4) Bardock's wish with the Cerealian Dragon Balls made Goku immortal during his childhood, so nothing can kill him until he grows up. Ergo Bulma didn't save Goku at all when he was a kid

5) Doing one thing at the start of the story doesn't make you important for the entire story.

6) Nothing Bulma does is ever a point of focus. She's just used for lazy plot devices that are swiped off-screen, like making her own radar and time machine. We don't see how she made these things; they're arbitrary conveniences that the author put no thought into.

7) The only thing we see of Bulma on-screen is her constantly being sexually harassed, assaulted, flashing some guy, bitching, kidnapped, or left in the kitchen because she's a blatantly perverted, misogynist stereotype of women.

8) She made her own Dragon Radar only because she wanted to abuse the Dragon Balls for her own selfish desire (i.e. wanting to wish for a boyfriend because no guys wanted her ugly ass), which goes against the whole reason Kami made the Dragon Balls.

9) As a grown woman pushing 50, she continues to waste wishes on pointless crap like a bigger ass, slightly longer eyelashes, and other cosmetic surgeries. This also screws them over in Super Hero because she didn't just wish for Goku and Vegeta to return to Earth and fight the new Red Ribbon army. You'd think she'd at least wish for something noble like ending world hunger by feeding starving nations.

10) Hell, since she runs the richest corporation on Earth, she could donate money to these starving nations, but she doesn't do that because she's just another selfish, greedy billionaire who *bleep*s over the economy by hoarding wealth.

11) She didn't pilot the ship to Namek. It was on autopilot the whole time.

12) The only reason they needed Kami's ship was because her stupid ass blew up Nappa's ship.

13) There was no point in her translating Kami's ship to her language because all she needed to know was a few Namekian buzzwords to operate the ship.

14) Her father could have repaired Kami's ship all by himself, as he did with Goku's ship.

15) She spends all of the Namek arc hiding in a cave. There was literally no point in her coming to Namek.

16) She tried seducing Goku when he was a child, so she's a sexual predator just as bad as Roshi.

17) Her making the Time Machine violated the laws of nature, gods, and *bleep*ed up the spacetime continuum by creating three different timelines.

18) Her making the Time Machine also led to Zamas killing everyone on Earth and Zeno erasing the multiverse.

19) She wasn't necessary for Trunks's birth. Vegeta could have knocked up her mother Panchy and nothing would change.

20) She didn't help soften Vegeta. Getting rekt and killed by Freeza is what softened Vegeta. Ultimately, it was Vegeta's love for Trunks that made him become a good guy in the Cell arc.

21) She's not one bit necessary to the franchise's success. When Dragon Ball first started with the Pilaf arc, it was unpopular. It was only during the Jackie Chun when the fighting and martial arts got more focus that the series picked up popularity. In this arc, Bulma rarely even appeared. So, when Bulma appears more during the Pilaf arc, the franchise is unpopular. But when she appears less during the Jackie Chun, the franchise becomes popular.

22) As fighting became more of a focus in the series over time, the franchise became more popular, reaching a peak during the Freeza arc. In this arc, Bulma spends all of it hiding in a cave while everything else is going on. She rarely appeared at all and the franchise was at its peak popularity. Ergo, she's completely unnecessary to the success of the franchise.

23) There are plenty of characters in other franchises who are fighters in addition to being scientific geniuses. Batman, Iron Man, Spiderman, Mr Fantastic from Fantastic Four, Beast from Xmen, Tails from Sonic, etc. So being a scientist is no excuse for Bulma not to be a fighter; she's just a bad character

24) Bulma could have used mech suits or remotely controlled robots to fight for her in battles, but she doesn't even do that.

25) She is not the reason Beerus spared Earth at all. It wasn't because of Bulmas food; it was only because he enjoyed fighting SSG Goku.

26) Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, Clare from Claymore, Jolyne Cujoh from Jojo Stone Ocean, even Revy, Balalaika, Roberta, Eda, etc from Black Lagoon, even Arale from Toriyama's other series Dr Slump, Korra from The Legend of Korra, Wonder Woman, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Samus Aran from Metroid, Joanne Dark from Perfect Dark, etc are better, more iconic female characters than she will ever be

27) Even Fubuki and Tatsumaki from One Punch Man are better than Bulma

28) Akira Toriyama drew a comic where a female superhero turns to prostitution after repeatedly getting raped

29) Toriyama also said he wanted to spy on his daughter bathing. This and the last example are relevant because it shows Toriyama did not have any respectable views on females and Bulma is absolutely not intended to be a good depiction of one

30) Goku is the protagonist. Dragon Ball = Goku, not Bulma

31) Kami made the Earth Dragon Balls. Guru made the Namekian Dragon Balls. Zalama made the Super Dragon Balls, the originals. So they're all more significant characters than Bulma in-universe as they made the Dragon Balls. What's the name of the series? DRAGON BALL.

32) Bulma is just another lowly human who wanted to abuse the Dragon Balls for her own selfish desires.

33) Only the fighting matters in a fighting series like Dragon Ball. Thats the only thing people are tuning in for. The only thing that the plot focuses on and fleshes out. The key to the franchise's success. No fighting = no success. Bulma doesn't fight. She's USELESS.

34) To truly be important in a story, the story has to focus on you and the things you do. Show you doing important things on-screen on a consistent basis throughout the story. Only then is the story fleshing out the things you do in detail.

35) Trunks could have traveled back in time through a wormhole in a squirrel's mouth and nothing would change.

36) She didn't remove Sixteen's bomb. Dr. Briefs did.

37) She helped repair Sixteen, but Sixteen is useless and wasn't needed for Gohan to turn SS2 as he was already noted to be on the verge of transforming before he saw Sixteen get destroyed

If there’s one thing I dislike Bulma for it’s accusing Yamcha of cheating on her and dumping him for his killer.

Not a bad thing in the long run, but Bulma flirting with Vegeta and inviting him to live with her the MOMENT they got back from Namek was insane. He was still a full blown villain and she was still with Yamcha.

@Yoshi Yamcha most likely did cheat.
