What little I've seen of the anime, I do prefer. Both versions suffer from the same problems, bad characterisation, plot holes galore, asspulls, shit writing in general. I suppose I do prefer the anime for the simple fact that it's antagonists are an actual threat. And occasionally, when the anime gets a good writer it can solve the bad characterisation issue. A good example is the Freeza recruitment episodes, legitimately the best written Goku has been in a long time. Of course it was written by a different writer as well.
