In the anime, Elder Kaioshin says, he will probably be just enough. Herms has it as he will probably be plenty.

Did the anime alter the line or is that a legit translation?

I think the way Elder Kaioshin phrases it seems like he's not certain but he still strongly believes that Super Saiyan is unnecessary. The manga certainly implies a greater gap since Elder Kaioshin claims "the potara is that incredible" or something along those lines and that's omitted from the anime.

Ultimately, I don't think it's that much of a difference. Both seem like Base Gokhan would firmly defeat Buutenks.

Back in the day, I was a firm believer of Base Vegetto ~ Buuhan and that Base Gokhan would be more or less the same power. Looking back, it kinda doesn't make that much sense unless the gap between Buuhan was >>> Buutenks which I doubt. Nowadays, I subscribe to the idea that Gokhan is at least > Base Vegetto ~ Buuhan if not even more so.

The thing is, would Gohan's "Mystic" be able to overwrite SSJ for Gokhan? It's something I thought about but i'm not sure if that was the case.

Good point. That's what I used to argue back in the day but I think the gap between Gokhan and Buutenks should be bigger. Base Vegetto went SSJ straight away against Buuhan so there's that as well.

Well factor in Buu's regen and I think it needs to be more than just 1.2-1.3X Buu's power. Unless Gokhan could get in an amped KHH on Buu or something like that.

Old Kaioshit did say Gokhan would be able to still go SSJ. He may get a shittier multiplier from it since Gohan's potential is already fully released though.

True that, it's possible for Base Gokhan > Base Vegetto but still SSJ Vegetto > SSJ Gokhan

I don't think he factoed in Gokhan since Gokhan never existed and as far as he knew, never will since he believed Potara to be completely irreversible.

I still believe that Vegetto is stronger than Gohkan because Gohan is multiple times stronger than Goku, whereas there is far more of a power balance between Vegeta and Goku.

There's no way to definitively tell. On one hand Gohan is not THAT much weaker than Bootenks while base Vegeta can't even defeat a Cell Jr. so the ridiculously stronger base fusee merging with base Goku might make Gokhan stronger, or the imbalance could cause him to have a shitty multiplier similar to Merged Zamasu and manga Kefla, and make Vegetto stronger somehow
