BoS Goku (Anime)

The narrator says in episode 1 that it's been several months since the wish to erase Boo from everyone's memory was made. That wish was 6 months after the end of the Boo arc. So at best it's been 9 months since Goku destroyed Boo when Super begins. In episode 1 Goku uses Boo as a benchmark for future enemies:

"Majin Buu was terribly strong, right? I couldn’t defeat him on my own. Another one like him might come along. I gotta train to be prepared."

To me this sounds like Goku hasn't progressed all that much over the 9 months. What do you think? I know some people think Goku has outstripped everyone by the beginning of the series.

i think most likely goku might have surpassed every-1 but since kid-boo is the highest boo that goes like:

kid-boo > goku > others in power i think

Doesn't the anime follow the manga though? Toriyama is the one who made the overall plot after reading the manga. While Toei were able to take the story in their own direction, do we have any reason to believe they wouldn't follow the manga like Toriyama did?

So in episode 2 Vegeta straight up declares that Goku is the strongest Saiyan and calls himself #2... So they magically became stronger than Gohan/Gotenks in 9 months??

Maybe he's not counting Gotenks because he's a fusion? As for Gohan, it's a little difficult to say because Gohan weakening massively in less than a year sounds a bit out there when he was still Ultimate in his short-lived bout against Beerus, but Gohan was pretty obviously weaker against Beerus than when he re-unlocked Ultimate against Piccolo so he may have gotten somewhat weaker. Either that, or Toei just wasn't thinking about every single Saiyan and just using "#1" loosely similar to how Gowasu called Black the strongest even though every GoD and Angel is far above him.

Gohan looks like his Ultimate self in M14, but trailers and posters had him use SSJ on top of that. It’s possible he was already losing some power and just didn’t look like it. Like how early Boo Saga Gohan doesn’t look like he has AIDS just because he slacked off.

He's base/ultimate in the anime. SSJ Ultimate Gohan is sort of just an idea that was discarded right before the movie's release. Apparently only CHAD GT Gohan can go Ultimate SSJ.

He's base/ultimate in the anime. SSJ Ultimate Gohan is sort of just an idea that was discarded right before the movie's release. Apparently only CHAD GT Gohan can go Ultimate SSJ.

Yeah it does sound like Goku is supposed to be > Gohan and Gotenks there. Either Goku got way stronger, Gohan got way weaker or they drew Goku > Gohan from the source material. It's also worth noting that Beerus assessed base Goku as < Freeza, so I don't know if Goku made big gains... unless base Goku was worlds below Freeza in the Boo Saga.

Goku still speaks as though Boo would be a threat in episode 1. It doesn't seem like he made huge gains. I'll have to see what Gohan looks like in the upcoming episodes but I'd rather go with Gohan getting far weaker. Either choice is retarded.
